Withdrawals worth almost £400,000 by Nationwide customers in Northern Ireland have not been debited from their accounts, the building society said.
The technical error affected about 7,500 account holders who withdrew money from Northern Bank machines during the last four months.
A routine audit of cash transfers between the Nationwide and other banks in the north uncovered the discrepancies.
The transactions, estimated to be around £375,000 in total, will now be taken from accounts on March 10.
A Nationwide spokesman said no charges will be issued to anyone who goes overdrawn as a result of the IT glitch.
"We apologise for this error and subsequent inconvenience this has caused to our customers," he added.
"The error was a result of a technical problem which meant people who took money from Northern Bank machines got their cash but the transaction wasn't debited to their account. This was our fault and nothing to do with the Northern Bank."
All affected customers will receive a letter from the company informing them of the problem.
