We all love our pets. Muddy paws & hair all over the house. They're part of the family but, what happens if they get ill, get lost, have an accident or cause one?

I took out pet insurance for my dog and cat last year with M&S as the policy looked very good. My premium per month then was £6.81 for my cat and £10.42 for my dog which I thought was excellent for £7,000 of veterinary cover. I have made no claims for my dog during the year but having just received my renewal, the monthly premium has gone up to £23! I can only assume this is because my dog has reached the age of nine. I have, therefore, searched for an alternative product and have taken out a policy with Axa who are the insurers for M & S and many others!)which is £7 per month cheaper. I also have M&S's cover for my cat who has recently been diagnosed with kidney disease and I have found M&S's service satisfactory so it is with regret I have had to change. My cat insurance has also gone up from £6 to £16 but I am stuck with M&S as I would not be able to claim for a pre-existing condition were I to move to another provider.
